Safer Internet Day is on the 9th of February 2021 and the theme this year is: ‘An Internet we trust – exploring reliability in the online world‘.
To support this campaign, Staying Safe Online at West Sussex County Council are offering a free event for parents/carers on Friday 12 February 2021 from 10.00-11.30am.
This event is composed of a 90 minute webinar with a break between. The online webinars are aimed at parents/carers and explore some of the key factors to be aware of regarding the online space and exploitation.
It will better equip you to engage and support young people and identify harmful online behaviour, including online radicalisation, fakes news & conspiracy theories that could mean a young person may be vulnerable to exploitation.
Training objectives
The aim of this event is to give you an overview of what young people may experience online & explore the topic of trust online.
The workshop will raise your understanding of how the online space can be exploited and will discuss examples of how online platforms are used to manipulate, coerce and radicalise vulnerable young people.
