Sixth Forms
We are proud of our Sixth Form. Our A level results are always very strong and this year was no exception, placing us amongst the top Sixth Forms in the country once again. We would love you to be a part of our success. In turn, the vast majority of students gained places at the most competitive universities and are now studying on some of the most sought-after degrees/courses.
We have been very pleased over the last few years to welcome students from Ormiston Six Villages Academy and other schools from the surrounding area. There is lots of information on our website and we are preparing a video to be on our website by 14th October. We are hoping that in the New Year we may be able to give you the opportunity to come into school with your parents, tour the school and meet staff.
We ask that students obtain a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 5 or above with either a grade 6 or above in the subjects they wish to study. Please look carefully at the individual subject entry requirements. We have never yet been unable to offer a place to an applicant who has met our entry requirements. Government guidelines permitting, we will invite you to an interview and the opportunity to discuss and amend your subject choices if you have changed your mind.
Bishop Luffa Sixth Form remains a place where students not only achieve academic excellence but where an array of extra-curricular opportunities allows for the development of the many other skills necessary for a successful life and career.
Students often say that Sixth Form is where they spend some of the most enjoyable years of their school life and St Philip Howard Sixth Form offers a vibrant and happy place to study. As a member of the Sixth Form you are joining a long established and successful Sixth Form with an excellent reputation in the community. 98% of our students receive all five of their University offers.
Sixth Form life is not the same as Year 11 study. Students are treated more as adults and are expected to take responsibility for their own learning, as well as setting a good example to the younger students with regard to behaviour, appearance and general attitude to work. You are taught in smaller groups, you have more independent study time and are given Sixth Form privileges.
We are here to ensure that you receive the guidance and support you need to flourish both academically and personally. Students will be allocated a personal tutor with whom they will meet on a regular basis. The tutor is there to support you in your work, to oversee your progress, and to provide guidance on the choices you will make in the near future.
We expect all those who choose to enter the sixth form, whether from Chichester High School or elsewhere, to have a strong commitment to the school and to the wider community of which the school is part of.
The sixth form is committed to helping all its students to maximise their potential and achieve academic excellence. At the same time, we also provide many opportunities for personal development and leadership in academic, sporting, artistic, and social contexts, and we look to our sixth form to play a major part in the school’s continuing achievements. The aim of the Chichester High School Sixth Form is to provide a high-quality post-16 education which will enable students to reach the best possible standards of achievement in both academic and personal development. High expectations, strong teaching and excellent relationships are key features of the sixth form.
All sixth formers are expected to take charge of their own learning so that, through both individual effort and teamwork, they attain the highest possible academic success and develop an approach to life that will be of permanent benefit to them.
