Six Villages marks Remembrance Day

On Friday 11 November, students gathered in the courtyard for an 11am act of Remembrance where Stanley Wright reprised his playing of The Last Post in advance of a two-minute silence.

Jake Lott, Kayleigh Akmenkalns, Libby Mallock, Zoe Allen and Jacob Mouland French accompanied Ms Sharif to St Mary's Church in Aldingbourne, where Jake laid a wreath in honour of the fallen after the service.

We were also proud to hear of the role individual students played in services around the district. Emily Sherrington and Hamish Dominick, who are both air cadets with Squadron 2351, Bognor Regis ATC, also attended a commemoration service at Goodwood to pay their respects, and Emily then attended the Remembrance Day parade in Bognor Regis where she also laid a wreath in remembrance.

Ms Sharif said, “This week's assembly and our commemoration events were important opportunities to remember and honour those who fought in the First World War and reflect on the sacrifices that were made. Recognising the importance of First World War education, we also offer our students the opportunity to attend battlefields trips during the year to further enhance their knowledge and understanding of this important period of history.”
