Students, staff and parents surpassed themselves at yesterday's Six Villages Christmas Bake-Off.
The evening was a fantastic success, with parents, students and staff bringing cakes and biscuits in to be judged by Martin Hadden, the Group Executive Head Chef for Historic Sussex Hotels (Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa in Clymping, The Spread Eagle Hotel in Midhurst and Ockenden Manor in Cuckfield).
As a judge, Martin was extremely diligent, tasting all the cakes on offer to finally make a very tough choice between entries to name the overall winners. The competition was fierce, but he awarded the prizes to the two people whose bakes were exceptionally professional, well presented and had a wonderful flavour.
A huge well done to Juliette Feest in Y10 for her beautifully presented vanilla sponge topped with a handmade fondant snowman and handmade meringues.
Congratulations also go to our Finance & Business Director, Miss White, who won the Staff/Parent category with an exquisitely flavoured traditional Victoria Sponge decorated with a gold theme.
All cakes were sold either on the night, or to students and staff at break today.
Martin also very kindly brought in one of his own beautiful bakes - a red velvet cake made with his own mulled wine recipe to give it a more festive appeal, with a buttercream filling made from crème fraîche, cream and sugar. This beautiful creation was auctioned off to staff, with the winning bid placed by our Principal Ms Sharif. We will announce the final fundraising total next week - all the monies raised will be donated to Stand Up to Cancer.
Thank you to everyone who supported with the organisation of and preparations for the event and bought cakes and biscuits in support of this worthy charity.
